The whacky solar system players can explore in

Taking the outlandish gameplay and turning it up to eleven seems to be the sole purpose of these hidden gems, as they all have a simple yet ridiculous effect that is always a blast to use. Not all of the Science Weapons are made equal, however, and some can easily be left at the bottom of the player's bag for the majority of the game.

5 Shrink Ray

The first Science Weapon players can find on Phineas' ship is the Shrink Ray, a small pistol looking gun that gives off strong vibes of classic sci-fi weapons. Its initial shot is relatively weak compared to the other Science Weapons and even compared to many early game guns and melee weapons players can find, but

Weapons from the Void - Get all Science Weapons in The Outer Worlds

The Outer Worlds has a total of five Science Weapons for players to collect. These fall under a quest called Weapons from the Void, sending players all over the game to collect some of the coolest guns a player could ask for. In this guide, I’ll show you the location and methods for collecting each one.

Weapons from the Void

Collecting the Science Weapons in The Outer Worlds is part of a quest called Weapons from the Void. For players that don’t have that quest, collecting a single Science Weapon will prompt it to initiate, and we can hook you up with an easy one to get started.

Shrink Ray

The Shrink Ray can be found at Phineas’ Lab, which players can visit as soon as they decide where to divert power in The Outer Worlds and fix their ship, the Unreliable. Use the System Map on the Unreliable to set a course for Phineas’ Lab. Once there, leave the ship and head for Phineas. He’ll be standing behind some glass for his own protection (a neat narrative way to keep players from killing him), and the Shrink Ray is found directly to the right when you’re looking at him.

The Outer Worlds: Every Science Weapon (& Where To Find Them)

10 Shrink Ray

Both the Shrink Ray and the Prismatic Hammer can be found by reading the captain’s notes on the Unreliable after being able to fly the ship. This will trigger the quest “Weapons From the Void,” which can lead to the first four Science Weapons on the map.

The Shrink Ray will shrink and damage enemies while firing a continuous beam of energy. Enemy proportions shrink down, and their voices get high-pitched, which is hilarious. Also, with a reduction in armor, this weapon makes tiny

Not every weapon in The Outer Worlds is for putting bullets into bad guys. Some of them are just about fun, and those are the five
science weapons
scattered around the Halcyon Colony.

Science weapons don’t deal the most damage, but they are unique and interesting. And they’re just a whole lot of fun. Below, we’ll talk about what science weapons are and how to find all five of them.

What are Science Weapons?

Science weapons are basically anything a mad scientist would create — like shrink rays, anti-gravity guns, or mind control rays.

They don’t deal a ton of damage on their own, but their damage will scale with the wielder’s

ammo.

The real use of science weapons is their physics-breaking properties. The shrink ray, for example, makes your target temporarily tiny, deals some plasma damage, and reduces their damage and armor. The UDL gloop gun splashes shocking gloop around that also causes targets to float helplessly into the air.
