It all begins when your ally is contacted by an old friend. The two of you then get caught up in a story of deceit and betrayal. Fighting is not the main focus of this quest, as it tests your conversational skills more than your aim. Plus, the mission tasks you with making a few difficult decisions, which isn't a surprise for The Outer Worlds. Here's how to get through it all.

The Outer Worlds guide: Companions, and how to find them

Early on in The Outer Worlds, you’ll unlock your first companion. As you continue to adventure through the system, you’ll meet and recruit new adventurers.

Companions follow you around, aid in combat, and give special stat bonuses. They also add a lot of extra dialogue and create a less lonely experience through The Outer Worlds.

Here’s how to unlock all six companion characters and what each of them do.

Parvati

Parvati is an engineer from Edgewater, and you can’t miss picking her up during the Stranger in a Strange Land quest.

When you speak with Reed in the Saltuna Cannery, Parvati will join the party. When you finish all the quests and reach the end of Terra-2, she’ll ask to stay as a permanent member.

The Outer Worlds guide: Every companion and where to find them

There's a lot to do in The Outer Worlds, but one of the most important elements has to be the companion system. As with RPGs that have come before, like Fallout and Mass Effect, companions provide you extra quests and bonuses, but they also fill out the game with story and flavor. There are six potential companions in the game, and because the game is so big, it's easy to miss a couple. Here's how to get them all and how to use them.

What you need to know first

The Outer Worlds follows a lot of the same patterns set up by RPGs past in regards to its companions. You can have up to two in your party simultaneously and can send a companion back to the ship at any point. If you feel like the fit isn't right you can dismiss a companion from your crew.

There are two trickier elements to the companion system. One is the perks. Just like with your character, as you level up your companions can unlock another perk. Most of them are the same across the board — such as increasing base health or upping their armor rating — but each one has unique perks that grant the party bonuses. The ones listed for each compan

The Outer Worlds: The 5 Best Companion Side Quests, Ranked

Companions are an important part of any RPG game. They make the gameplay a little more dynamic as well as give the player characters  a chance to get attached to them as they tag along in the campaign. As such, the different quests they offer the player to strengthen their relationship with them should stand out just as much as the characters themselves. These quests should be nice little distractions from the main objectives. They may not always have or even require material rewards when completed, but they should always be worth doing in one way or another.

Felix is a special companion in the game. A dense but lovable lug who just wants a place to call a home. Felix gets a message from an old friend who disappeared without a word named Harlow. After visiting this person, they task both the player and Felix to seek out and kill an
