The Legacy Collection Brachiosaurus: How Mattel Got a Jurassic Icon Right
I’m going to pretext this piece by saying I have my fair few problems with the current nature of the Mattel license, but I think it is important to acknowledge some of the large strides Mattel have made with the Jurassic Park & Jurassic World Licenses. Over the course of the past couple of years, we have all had the opportunity to own new and exciting toys – many of which we never thought we would ever own. Mattel have really doubled down on the love and the passion for this franchise – ensuring they factor in the toys which fans have hoped and dreamed of for years. Nowhere is this level of love and dedication more present than it that of The Legacy Collection Brachiosaurus.
The modern toy industry is scarcely one which is accepting of large-scale collectables, with most being a bygone from an age where technology and video games were not front and centre in the lives of children everywhere. Indeed, I remember growing up in what I refer to as the ‘Hasbro Glory Days’ – where Hasbro found their stride with the

license. Large scale toys (with even larger price tags) like th
In this blog, I am going to review one of the most stunning dinosaur figures in Mattel’s Jurassic World toy line; the Brachiosaurus! I have plenty of comments to say about this figure. She is absoluetly beautiful, impressive, majestic and impressive! She is so impressive that it just left me speechless due to its gigantic size! It is about the size of a trophy!
When you get your Brachiosaurus figure, pay your $50 at your local Target, take it out of the box, and then assemble the tail and extremely long neck (note: This is not the Tanystropheus nor a Mamenchisaurus. If Mattel makes a Mamenchisaurus, it would be way too big! Bigger than the Brachiosaurus here.) After I assemble it, I was impressed by the size of this dinosaur! She is just huge!
Now let me talk about the details, sculpt, realism, paintjob, and playability. The details are just fabulous. I can see the skin is all wrinkly, the legs resemble giant tree trunks, the body is much like an elephant or Columbian mammoth, the eyes are painted small and they even got nose bump on its head. This is how you make a Brachiosaurus figure. Since this Brachiosaurus is supposed to be the one from “Jurassic ParkR

. We see our protagonist’s reactions first and their acting sets the tone. The music swells, building to the moment we’ve been waiting for. The animal cries its haunting call, and then the camera pans from our perspective along the animal’s body and skywards along its impossibly long neck, showing us the scale of this animal like never before. It’s not obscured in foliage or darkness, the entire creature is there for us to soak in. Chills run down our spine, our hearts skip a beat; we laugh and cry with joy and wonder. And in an example of excellent script writing we were all thinking what Dr. Grant had said, “

This legendary piece of cinema would go on to move and inspire a generation of future movie directors, paleontologists, special effects technicians, artists, and writers. And although most of u
